Chocolate Chip cookies
I wanted to try my Grandmother's recipe for chocolate chip cookies. The recipe calls for Crisco which makes a "crisper" chocolate chip cookie that has a bit of a snap to it when broken apart as compared to the soft baked kind. I tried both the "home baked" preset and the store bought preset. For this particular recipe I thought the store bought preset worked best and I added 1.5' to the time.
Recipe:
- *1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 t vanilla
-----------------------------------
- 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 t salt
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- **1/2 cup broken nuts
* I used butter flavored Crisco
** I roasted the walnuts
Cream shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients then stir in creamed mixture; blend well. Add chocolate and nuts. Drop by teaspoon 2" apart on june pan. Use store bought preset -- may need to add 2' time. Remove from oven promptly and use a spatula to place on cooling rack.
