The Food Thermometer's desired temperature can only be programmed from 100 Fahrenheit to 212 Fahrenheit. If it was higher than 212 F, then it is overheating due to exposure to high heat. First check to ensure the Food Thermometer tip is not placed too close to or touching the bottom of the pan/bowl.
We have some guidelines on perfect Food Thermometer placement that can be found here that may help prevent this from happening again. Since your Food Thermometer was exposed to heat, it may not give you the most accurate reading to resume your cooking.
