Care and cleaning

Hand wash with soap and water. Do not submerge. Dry completely before storage. When storing, ensure the probe tip is protected from cabinet drawers and other pinch points.

Cooking tips

For best results, place the tip of the thermometer in the geometric center (usually the thickest part) of the food. Make sure the probe tip is not in contact with any bones, fat pockets or the pan as this will affect the accuracy. Check out this guide for some visual examples of how to identify the best places to insert the probe.

Frequently asked questions

Does the thermometer get hot?

Although built from durable materials that can withstand high heat, it will get hot when in use. We recommend always using oven mitts when connecting and disconnecting the thermometer from your oven.

Can I leave the thermometer plugged in when I'm not using it?

We recommend storing your Food Thermometer in a safe place outside the oven when not in use. This helps protect against accidental overheating or contact with the heating elements.

When using a Cook-Program or Guided Recipe that uses the Food Thermometer, why does the "time remaining" occasionally change?

June uses the current internal temperature of the food, desired internal temperature of the food and temperature of the oven to calculate the remaining cook time. The time you see on your screen is the estimated amount of time for the average size of the particular protein or vegetable.

Since not all proteins or vegetables are the same size, our oven will change its estimate based based on your particular food you are cooking. The remaining cook time can change as June continually runs the algorithm while your food is cooking in order to provide the most accurate ETA possible based on the oven's interior temperature and the food's internal current temperature.

We recommend keeping an eye on your food via the June app in case your food is ready sooner than expected!

Is it possible to cook without the thermometer in Cook-Programs or Guided Recipes that tell me to use it?

Many Cook-Programs and Guided Recipes rely on the Food Thermometer because it’s the best way to know when certain foods are done. For example, since potatoes can come in all shapes and sizes, our Potato Cook-Program uses a target internal temperature rather than a time to know when it’s ready. If you want to cook without the thermometer, you can always cook manually using one of June’s Cook Modes.

I received a notification that my Food Thermometer is overheating. How did that happen?

This happens when the probe tip of the thermometer is reading temperatures over 212 °F. The common causes are the tip is exposed to the air inside the oven cavity or is close to/touching the pan. When this happens, carefully remove the thermometer from your oven and cool it down by running cold tap water over the probe tip. After about 30 seconds, you should be able to return your thermometer to the oven and resume cooking.

What’s the difference between the first and third generation Food Thermometers?

The Food Thermometer (1st generation) was shipped with June Oven (1st generation). It has a slightly different connector that is only compatible with that model and a silicone coated cable. The Food Thermometer (3rd generation) uses a connector that’s compatible with the June Oven (2nd and 3rd generations) and has a stainless-steel braided cable. Both thermometers have the same temperature range and accuracy.

What’s the difference between the Food Thermometer (3rd generation) and the Pro Food Thermometer?

The Pro Food Thermometer has polished stainless-steel grips while the Food Thermometer (3rd generation) has black matte silicone grips. Both thermometers have the same temperature range and accuracy.
